Is it possible to have widgets in the footer to not spread evenly but one widget to the left and three widgets align right? I want to align left first widget and then a space between the other three widgets that are floating right. Now the code spreads the widgets evenly across the footer.

Ah, I see now thank you.
Unfortunately it is not possible to do that via the widget columns as you said, as the footer columns are set to specific sizes.
You can either:
1) Add in your own custom code via the Widget Text box -create your own row with columns via html.
or
2) Add in your own custom code via the footer.php file (waxom/footer.php).
