The Custom CSS Code box does sometimes output certain characters differently because it is going into this file: waxom\css\style-dynamic.php rather than a css file.
We recommend for CSS items that have more advanced characters is to add them into the Waxom Child Theme stylesheet: waxom-child\style.css.
You can access this file via the WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Editor > Style.css (when the Child theme is installed and activated).
I have added custom CSS to Waxom -> Advanced but it does not show.
